Appropriate Technologies >> Creating an international resource and training center in Rwanda
related to these themes - Create a National Agency for Ecovillages and

WHAT IS AN ECOVILLAGE
-------------------------------------------------------
Today’s definition (June 2017) from the GEN website is the following:
“an ecovillage is an intentional, traditional or urban community using
local participatory processes to integrate ecological, economic, social,
and cultural dimensions of sustainability in order to regenerate social
and natural environments”
Unfortunetly GEN Africa exists today only on paper!
GEN Africa is the African ecovillage network, promoting
social resilience, environmental protection and restoration of nature
through the concept of ecovillages as models for sustainable human
settlements.

- PDF / 44p - by Troy Olivier ... after the Global Ecovillage
Summit in Dakar
https://ecovillage.org/wp-content/uploads/drupal_files/files/5_report_senegalese_ecovillage.pdf
The GEN (Global Ecovillage Network) includes three major regions.
Europe has 20 national networks; in North and South America there are 9
bioregional networks; Asia has a less developed network, Africa has just
formed its first regional network. The networks include both the
intentional communities of the North and the traditional villages of the
South. No one knows exactly how many ecovillages exist.

WHAT IS A COOP or CO-HOUSING
-------------------------------------------------------
A housing cooperative or "co-op" is a type of residential housing option
that is actually a corporation whereby the owners do not own their units
outright. Instead, each resident is a shareholder in the corporation
based in part on the relative size of the unit that they live in.

WHAT ARE APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGIES
-------------------------------------------------------
Appropriate
technology is a movement (and its manifestations) encompassing
technological choice and application that is small-scale, affordable by
locals, decentralized, labor-intensive, energy-efficient,
environmentally sustainable, and locally autonomous.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appropriate_technology
Well-known
examples of appropriate technology applications include: bike- and hand-powered
water pumps (and other self-powered equipment), the universal nut
sheller, self-contained solar lamps and streetlights, and passive solar
building designs.

propres produits.
